       Our barrels are 416R stainless steel and button rifled in 1:8, 5R. Our complete uppers and rifles with these barrels are sub-MOA guaranteed. Given our ability to achieve this accuracy with button rifling, the amount of investment needed for cut and/or cold hammer forging (upwards of $7M in investment) and our desire to keep our rifles and complete uppers relatively economical and to serve a wider audience, it was a business decision to not pursue cut rifling and/or cold hammer forging. It may be something we reconsider down the line.

A lot of new folks like me don’t have such imagination in our head. One question, is the DTL piston driven or gas operated? Thank you!

     thinking of getting a 16″ custom for my next AR, wanted to check in to verify the current iteration is *fully* ambidextrous? Specifically, I can eject the magazine from both sides, release the bolt from both sides, and catch the bolt on both sides. I find a lot of lowers that are marketed as fully/truly ambi dont allow you to both catch and release the bolt from both sides. i already have a 13.7 P&W which is why im want a 16 for my next one.

     I would like to try a 18-20″ 6ARC with rifle+ gas system, rifle buffer system and stock, with a 15-17″ mlok handguard, this will be used in DMR/SPR style competitions across the US. My current sponsor doesn’t offer the 6ARC caliber and I wouldn’t feel right having a ******* rifle and somebody else’s barrel. Looking for a full on build to use for the remainder of this season and next year. I put 10-15k rounds through it in a typical 12-month period.

     In our testing, the new Sierra 5 has demonstrated a much quieter sound profile than Sandman with .223 and 5.56 ammunition. The Sierra 5, however, is a dedicated 5.56 suppressor. If you are looking for a more versatile suppressor that you can use with other calibers and platforms, including bolt action, we would recommend the Sandman. The Sandman exhibits a good overall sound profile with .223 and 5.56 ammunition, but has a larger bore diameter and is rated for up to .300 RUM.

     Yes. We chamber our barrels in .223 WYLDE, which is a hybrid chamber that is rated for BOTH .223 and 5.56 ammunition. The Wylde chamber has more room in the throat to accommodate the higher pressure of 5.56 NATO, while maintaining the improved centricity – and accompanying accuracy – of .223 Remington.

     We are not currently in production for a 16″ DTL barrel. Our mills and lathes are busy machining 13.9″ and 14.5″ DTL barrels and our forthcoming Keymo muzzle devices. We do plan to offer a 16″ DTL barrel option for our rifles and complete uppers in the future, however. In the meantime, we do offer pinning and welding to qualify our shorter barrels as 16.0″+.      Question: can the upper dowels.be removed from the handguard, or ordered without them? I have a fairly gucci receiver already I’d just like to upgrade the barrel/handguard/brake if that tapered system will bolt up to it.

      3. Would you please post picture of each color scheme with an appropriate label on items that offer a color choice? For instance, on the lower/upper/handguard and builders kit there are several choices for color with no picture giving an example of that color. One company’s version of burnt bronze is not the same as another company’s version burnt bronze, etc.

Our standard 13.9″ rifle configurations come with a pinned and welded Keymo (Dead Air compatible) brake. On our “build you own” page, you must select one of the muzzle device options from the drop down menu or send us an appropriate length-muzzle device of your choosing for pinning and welding.

      (1) Most companies in this price range are shipping with Ambi controls; To be truly high end AR, you need to make your receiver AMBI.

      And (2): This may sound shallow, but current hand guard looks nerdy and not stylish. I just need 3-6-9 MLOKs, so you should consider milling rest of the sides with a more signature look like Radian, LMT, LWRCI.

        Thank you for your feedback. We are working on a full ambi lower with unique controls. We currently offer an ambi safety and mag release. It will take some time for us to engineer and test a unique ambi mechanism for the bolt release, and we appreciate your patience. Regarding the handguard, we are working on a second generation handguard that will launch early next year. We expect that this new generation handguard will have some unique design element in the lower 45 degree positions. We anticipate keeping at least some of the upper 45 degree positions as MLOK to accommodate operators who prefer to mount lights offset and tight to the top pic and for those who like a 45 degree position for their QD sling mount.

    I love this rifle, it feels nice and looks just as good- that said I have a couple thoughts.
    1. for this price it should have come with a full Ambidextrous lower, I understand that one is being created but as an early adopter I can’t stop thinking that for the same price I could have gotten a reputable rifle with this feature included.

    2. few parts are as important as the barrel, and barrel wear is happens. I was wondering when the time comes, will I be able to replace the barrel with any barrel of my choice or it will have to be a Blackout Defense barrel? (proprietary).

The new ambi lowers have a few machining operations left before we send to anodize and Cerakote and bring them into inventory for assembly. 3. We do not anticipate selling the ambi lowers by themselves, but (i) as a set with our upper receiver; and/or (ii) in a builders set with our upper receiver and handguard, and/or (iii) as a set with our complete upper.

      The muzzle devices are pinned and welded on our barrels that are shorter than 16.0″. For our 16.0″ barrels, we do not pin and weld, unless you are in a restrictive state and it is required for compliance.

    The nicest, Bad A** rifle I have ever seen. It has the performance to back up its looks too! I personally shot a ,43 MOA! Even with 12 year old federal LC 55 grain ammo it hollowed out the bullseye at 100 yards. Tore up clay pigeons laying on the ground at 200 yards. I am proud to own one of Blackout Defense’s eariler models. I can only imagine how much MORE accurate the cryo barrel is. An awesome company, top notch customer service, products, and dont even get me started on those triggers! I am very pleased with my purchase, well worth the money and the wait. Hurry and get your build started today!

    Adjustable gas blocks seem to be the way the AR15 industry is going these days. I know you offer the SA adjustable gas block on your rifles. I have used this system and will admit it works pretty well. The only problem is, you have to have a separate tool which is both inconvenient and can easily get lost. Another company, Riflespeed, has come out with an AGB which is external and can be adjusted by hand, no tool needed.
    So I have two questions. First, is the Riflespeed AGB something you can install on one of your builds?

    Also, if you are making 13.9″ 300 blackout barrels, what twist rate will be available? I’m assuming you’ll have the tempered with liquid nitrogen treatment available?

    Any reason the bolt and bolt carrier group are not available with a tempering with liquid nitrogen treatment after quenching?
    Being the company you are. I’m sure you guys have already tested this. If the BCG and bolt has 1-10% retained austenite, it would remove most of that and also up the hardness a point or 2 while retaining the same toughness. Resulting in a longer lasting bolt carries group and bolt. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Following up as a early buyer with a quantum gen 1 buy from 2020 being a local to BD; I was set on buying a top tier AR platform and last minute was introduce to Blackout which then led into the owner inviting me down on a sunday afternoon to check out the facility and see how and what it was all about. This 100% was over the top and got my respect and purchase even without the want for the gun !

    The quantum always gets everyone’s attention and just feels and shoots so much better then every other AR we have out when we go shooting with friends. By far the nicest AR available and the price is extremely fair, i would have expected a higher price tag honestly for the quality.

      All barrels – regardless of material type, manufacturing process, or finish – will see a degradation in accuracy as rounds go through it and open up the bore. How fast that happens is very dependent on how often you excessively heat up the barrel (mag dump) and whether your ammo is abrasive/corrosive. On average, this is what we have seen:

      Cryo hardened barrel:
      Up to 1.5MOA from 0-8,000 rounds
      Up to 2MOA from 8-15,000 rounds
      Recommended barrel change around 15-20,000 rounds

      Nitrided barrel:
      Up to 1.5 MOA from 0-12,000 rounds
      Up to 3 MOA from 12-25,000 rounds
      Recommended barrel change around 25-30,000 rounds

      We have done the most testing of our rifles with the Dead Air Sandman S, with great results. The Keymo is an excellent mounting system overall. In addition to it being compatible with Dead Air Keymo suppressors, with an adapter it can be made compatible with certain Silencerco suppressors, certain Huxwrx suppressors, and suppressors with a 1.375″x24 thread pattern.
